George Thornton Art is now representing Scottish artist John Lowrie Morrison OBE.

Jolomo, as he is probably better known, is an extremely talented painter who transforms the surface of the canvas using varied materials and mixed media, until it becomes almost three dimensional. He layers canvases with thick, undiluted oil to create rich, painterly  textures with a sense of fragility about them. Bold, vibrant and emotive, his work falls somewhere between impressionism and abstract.

“We consider ourselves very lucky to be showcasing these original works,” said George Thornton. “Jolomo and his family keep a tight rein on where and which gallery he exhibits in.  We are very proud to have become one of a chosen few.  Hopefully these will be the first of many works of his that we have in the gallery.”
